The FBI's Rap Back service provides ongoing notifications to authorized agencies about updates to an individual's criminal history using fingerprint identification. Agencies, such as the Department of Energy, subscribe to an individual's fingerprints and receive alerts when there are changes. The service helps law enforcement track persons under investigation and allows noncriminal justice agencies to monitor personnel, enhancing public safety.
What this means for an employee who has an access authorization (security clearance) is that not only do you have a reporting obligation for criminal charges, but that when you report will be measured against your reporting requirements and that the relevant Local Security Office probably has already received notice through the FBI's Triggered Rap Back service.
If you have questions about how to mitigate security clearance concerns, complete an E-QIP/SF-86/SF-85/QNSP, respond to a Letter of Interrogatory, or need representation in a Security Clearance hearing, then don't delay contact us today.
