Most of us can remember a moment or two when as a child we felt excluded or not included in a game with other children. But for many parents of children with disabilities face the struggle to find a place where their children can even have the access to have opportunity to even use the same playground and join their peers even when invited to play with one another. For that reason, and because I have struggled to find at present a good list of accessible adaptive inclusive or even (dated term warning) handicap accessible playgrounds, for those reasons and more I've added this rough draft list to our blog. Please let us know of any additional accessible playgrounds and play spaces for children in Tennessee with disabilities and also any great spaces for adults with disabilities to engage and recreational opportunities in public spaces with one another. If you or someone you love doesn't have a disability of one type or another, then if you live long enough you probably will, so these resources aren't for some of us - they are for all of us. Playgrounds and community spaces bring us all closer together and knit the fabric of our great cities, States, and our great Nation together.
*Note No warranty as to their current state and please let us know if they aren't accessible for you, your child, a child you know, an adult you know or if they can be improved. BUT don't stop there, provide your feedback to your local government and relevant interested non-profits and see what you can do to organize and improve our cities and our State! We are all in this together.
